Origin of Modern Monks

Modern Monks Forbidden Ales

The Brothers of the Holy Order of Modern Monks resurrected brewing operations at the Chicken Coop Sports Bar & Grill in Grand Island, Nebraska in late 2007. The Brothers’ Cup exploration began immediately. The Monks decided not to rely on heavy handed trickery in their Cup. Monks pass the cup at lunch and quaff a couple with dinner. This ritual taught them valuable lessons. Through Brothers’ Cup, Modern Monks wish to share those lessons. Listen to your beer, and follow what you hear.

Modern Monks come from many different places. They share a deep, completely unearthly passion for characterful beer. Morphing into a creative sub-division of Thunderhead Brewing, Modern Monks have joined together to turn their visions of beer into reality. Devotion to beer is not an easy task, nor a profitable one. All Monks must work. Modern Monks live off alms only if absolutely necessary, their currency is beer.

The Brothers draw inspiration from the Oulde World. Ever faithful to Oulde Tradition, Monks do not compromise in their creativity. They must craft distinctive and characterful beers. It will be written:

The spice, the forbidden ales: they must flow!

Those that seek shall be rewarded with the Brothers’ Cup.

Cheers!
