Dubbel Take

January 7th, 2009

The begining of the new year brings many exciting things for the Monks.  The first of those being the Modern Monks Dubbel.  In the gospel of Brother Dave it is “an amber hued nectar with complex maltiness, nobel hops to balance and a restrained fruitiness from the use of the imported belgian yeast strain Forbidden Fruit.  Forbidden fruit for a Forbidden Ale.”

People around the Lincoln area have already started enjoying this heavenly ale.

Ask for it at these locations:

Lincoln: Box Awesome, Bread and Cup, Brick Top

Omaha: Cresent Moon

Kearney: Thunderhead Brewing

Grand Island: Chicken Coop.

Smoked Bock Release at Bread & Cup!

September 3rd, 2008

Autumn is just around the corner. Ushering in the time of year when the Monks start thinking of bigger beers that push the upper ends of the styles, warm the body and relax the soul.  With this in mind the Monks give you the Fall 2008 release of their Smoked Bock.  To help them celebrate this yearly ritual they have teamed up with Bread & Cup in the Hay Market as well as Branched Oak Farms in Lincoln to help make this a special event.

It all started with Branched Oak farms turning a few gallons of the Smoked Bock beer into a batch of seriously delicious Gouda cheese!

Bread & Cup will be taking this fantastic cheese and turning it into a few offerings above and beyond their normal excellent menu.

Items made with the Smoked Bock Gouda cheese will include:

Cheese plate

Smoked Bock beer cheese soup

Pulled pork sandwich with Smoked Bock Gouda

Pizza with Smoked Bock Gouda

The festivities are slated to begin at 6:00 on Friday, September 12, 2008 at Bread & Cup located at the corner of 8th & S in Lincoln’s Historic Haymarket
440 N 8th St Suite 150   (402) 438-2255

Saison at Crescent Moon’s Sunfest

July 2nd, 2008

Religion of Light

More beery goodness in Omaha, hopefully this time it won’t get blown away. The Monks will have a keg of our Saison pouring at Sunfest, the Crescent Moon’s summer beer festival. Here is the skinny from the Moon:

July 12. Saturday. 3pm – 8pm. Crescent Moon/Beertopia Summer Beerfest!! This event is bigger and better than last year’s event. We are moving it outdoors and boasting 20 breweries with upwards of 100 different beers - not just seasonals.

Tickets will go on sale May 23rd. Advance tickets are $22. Tickets purchased the day of the fest are $27. Your ticket gets you a tasting glass, program and unlimited samples from 3pm-8pm. We will have food available for purchase from our outdoor grill station also.

WE WILL ONLY SELL 500 TICKETS!!!!! If you were one of the unfortunate ones that did not get a ticket to the “Extreme Beer Fest” I’m sure you know that you should not procrastinate on getting your tickets this time around. It would be sad to get shut out twice in a row.

Pics from the Omaha Storm

June 30th, 2008

Jim Englebart just sent us this PDF with some pics from the storm last Friday. You can see our own Brother David working to get things set back up. I hope you guys had time to grab some growlers before you had to head to shelter!

Thanks for all the work that went into this. Glad to hear that there were no injuries.
